Hermann Staudinger was born in Schwanenstadt, Upper Austria. He specializes in the subject of gold in its diverse forms. Hermann extraordinary depictions of nature leave us in awe. His gold works bring viewers to a nature world that is bathed in an inimitable deep, golden glow penetrated with shimmering, atmospheric light.
Hermann delights in the inexhaustible diversity of forms in nature. His “Vienna Woods” series is created with a proprietary UV light printing which transfer images to new reality with light, shadow, surface and space. The substrate is usually 24-karat pure gold, the image transfer is applied to a completely gilded wooden plate.
The appearance of Hermann’s works changes depending on the viewing angle and the light source; this can range from negative to positive views, from two- to three-dimensional shimmering structures that open up a deep space and, as if by magic, seem to actively emit light. The paintings glow particularly beautifully and intensely in pale twilight or flickering candlelight. These amazing visual experiences are made possible when one is in front of the originals in the physical space.
The gleaming gold is not simply a color, but it expands into a space – a space of light. And Hermann’s works send light into the depths of the human heart. At present Hermann lives and works in Vienna.
