Paolo Facchinetti  Italy

Paolo Facchinetti was born in Nembro, Bergamo where he currently lives and works. He began his artistic training at the Accademia Carrara di Belle Arti in Bergamo, where he attended drawing and nude classes under the guidance of Mino Marra. From the very beginning his art is characterised by a strong dualism: abstractionism and chromatic-formal research coexisting alongside portraiture and his ability to capture the essence of the subject. The physical-gestural movement at the time the colour settles on the canvas is instantly recognizable and often central to his work.

Starting from 1972, Paolo exhibited his works at several solo and group exhibitions and he took part in numerous national and international art events and exhibitions in Bologna, Rome, Venice, Palermo, Milan, Naples, Bergamo, Ferrara, Florence, Foggia, Lecce, Portugal, London, Copenhagen and San Jose USA. In 2008 he was one of the two Italian artists selected for the Biennial of Painting at the Museum of  West Bohemia, in Pilsen of the Czech Republic. In 2012 he released a major catalogue “Paolo Facchinetti” published by Editoriale Giorgio Mondadori, with accompanying texts by Dalmazio Ambrosioni and Virgilio Patarini, followed by “TzimTzum” in 2015, another catalogue with critical texts by Giovanna Brambilla, published by Libri Aparte.
